How to make a quote in Australia
A quote (or quotation) is a written estimate you give a customer before a job, setting out what you'll do and what it will cost. This free quote generator lays one out professionally and downloads it as a PDF — no signup.
What to put on a quote
- Your business name, ABN and contact details, and your logo
- The customer's name
- An itemised list of the work with a price for each line
- The total, and whether it includes GST
- A validity period (e.g. "valid for 30 days")
- Any terms, exclusions or assumptions
Won the job? Turn your quote into a tax invoice in one click with the Australian invoice generator. New to it all? Read invoice vs quote vs receipt.
Quote vs invoice
A quote comes before the work and is an estimate; an invoice comes after and is a request for payment. A quote isn't a tax document, so it doesn't have to meet the ATO's tax-invoice rules — but showing your ABN and estimated GST keeps it consistent with the invoice that follows.
